Bio

Julia Muñoz is a Spanish jeweler currently living in Paris. She began her artistic career in the field of decorative arts in 2004, by opening her first gallery at the Marché Serpette in Paris, the world's largest antique market. From 2004 until 2019, she dedicated herself passionately and creatively to decorative art, specializing in the second half of the 20th century, with a particular focus on pieces from the 1950s and 1970s.

In 2019, Julia embarked on a new chapter in her artistic career by starting to create jewelry, using the ancient technique of lost-wax bronze casting. The lost-wax bronze casting technique is a complex process dating back to the 5th century BC. It involves creating a mold or prototype made of wax, which is then placed in an oven. When the wax melts away, the molten metal is added.

Initially, Julia made jewelry for her, but two years later she launched her own brand, which she currently exhibits in her second art gallery at Carré des Arts de la Rive Gauche in Paris.

Passion for Design

The jewelry pieces are unique items crafted using the lost-wax technique, cast in bronze by artisans in Madrid, and gilded in gold at a workshop in Paris. Drawing from her background as an antiquarian, Julia decided to incorporate this ancient artistic technique once used by European sculptors in the 1970s, rooted in ancient methods dating back to the 5th century BC. This introduces a more artistic and sculptural vision into the world of jewelry.

Furthermore, drawn to the energetic value of precious and semi-precious stones, the artist incorporates them into her pieces to lend them an even more unique and personal character. The jewelry from her collections features embedded gemstones such as sapphires, tourmaline, and diamonds extracted from antique jewelry, or semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, dioptase, labradorite, and malachite.
